Ewaste of Computers, Monitors & Other Electronics :

Although there are tens of millions of computers out there, the useful life is normally less than 3 years and shrinking, and advances in architecture and operating speeds and software development are rapidly rendering formerly "cutting-edge" electronics obsolete. So where do we stockpile this graveyard for dead technology? The answer is that in most cases PCs and other electronics are merely chopped up, crushed and sent to a dump.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has warned that end-of-life electronics pose serious issues regarding proper disposal and potential environmental consequences. The monitors’ cathode ray tube (CRT) contains trace amounts of lead, phosphorous, cadmium and mercury. The glass screen also contains lead-bearing particles.
NLR can safely dispose of and recycle these devices as well ensuring that a strict “No Landfill” policy is implemented. Through a sophisticated process, a demanufacturing of the used electronics is accomplished that enables the recovery and ultimate reuse of many valuable, yet potentially hazardous resources. Materials recovered include plastics, metals, leaded and unleaded glass, circuit boards, power supplies, and drives. The unique sorting systems insures that all material generated from the demanufaturing operation are Ewaste according to applicable local, state and federal regulations. No equipment processed will go to a landfill. All material will go back into the production stream closing the end of life loop.
